Phoenix Christian Unified Schools |

We have a lot of great businesses along Indian School Road. One outstanding example is Phoenix Christian Unified School located at 1751 W. Indian School Road. The school currently serves Pre-K through 12th grade students. They have been at it for over 60 years. Darren Johnson is the Development Director and he was nice enough to grant me an interview. I learned a lot about our neighbor across the street. The school has long standing community roots. This is well illustrated by the simple fact that the principal, Phil Adams, is a former student. Phoenix Christian also holds the title of being the very first Christian School in Arizona. They are an accredited school with a curriculum similar to most public schools, and as the name suggests the school is a Christian environment. The school goes far beyond reading and writing. They offer a wide range of fine arts like photography, art and marching band. The band compliments the sports programs such as football, soccer, golf, track, swimming and much more! With Christian values in mind, the school has started an innovative program to raise money so that new students needing financial aid may attend as well. Cardboard is one element that fuels the financial aid. The school accepts, compacts and bundles enough cardboard to help in fundraising. There is a sign in the East side of the parking area along Indian School Road that reads "cardboard". All that you need to do to help is to save up your cardboard and toss it over the fence near that sign. Now you are helping the students too.
